Adding Light Burst Effect to Text

 Use the following steps to add Light Burst effect to Text and make it look way cooler.

Step 1.
Open a new Photoshop file. Set the dimensions as 600 X 800 pixels and the resolution at 72 pixels/inch.

Step 2.
 Add text. [Font Name - Impact ; Size - 72 pt ]

Step 3.
Resize the text by "Free Transform". (Ctrl + T). Hold down Shift on the keyboard and drag the image from the bottom right end. Holding down shift ensures that the proportions are maintained. 

Step 4.
Option to Rasterize Text Layer
Rasterize the Layer. 
[Menu Toolbar > Type >  Rasterize Type Layer]. 
After Rasterizing, hold onto CTRL button and click on the layer thumbnail.The text would be selected.




Now, click on the Channel tab next to the Layer tab 
and click "Add another Channel."
The new channel created by you would be named as Alpha 1.

Step 5.
Press Shift + F5, to open the "Fill" dialog box. Select White in the "Use" drop down box,
 and set Blending mode to "Multiply."

Step 6.
Click On Filter Menu >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur.
Set the radius to 4.0 pixels.












Now,we will apply another filter.
Filter >> Stylize >> Solarize




The Auto-tone Option under Image Menu
Step 7.
Now the text appears dull. So we use auto-tone.
 To use this press Shift+Ctrl+L on the keyboard.
 Duplicate the layer by pressing Ctrl+J. 





Polar Coordinates Toolbar


Step 8.
Adding the Polar Coordinate filter.
Filter >> Distort >> Polar Coordinates.
Then select Polar to Rectangular.
Now rotate the image 90 Degrees clockwise. 
(Menu Toolbar :: Image >> Image Rotation >> 90 CW)

Step 9.
Invert the Image (CTRL+I)
Now, Apply the Wind Filter.   Filter >> Stylize >> Wind
The direction of the wind should be from the right.
This filter has to be applied 2 or 3 times. To do this use the shortcut Ctrl + F











Step 10. 

Invert the Image Again.(CTRL+I) 
Apply Auto Tone ( SHIFT + CTRL + L)
 Apply Wind Filter again for 2 or 3 times.
 (CTRL+ F)
Now, rotate the Image 90 degrees Counter Clockwise.
(Menu Toolbar :: Image >> Image Rotation >> 90 CCW)
Goto Distort and apply Polar Coordinates.
 But this time select Rectangular to Polar.








The Burst Effect has Been Applied. Now we can make it much better by applying a color gradient.





Step 11.
Create new Fill Button
To add Colors. Click on the "Create new Fill or Adjustment Layer" below the Layer tab and Second to the Left of the "New Layer" button.
In the dialog box select  the kind of gradient and the 
colors you want. 
Then apply the gradient.


The Blending  Mode Set to "Multiply"



Step 12.
After applying the Gradient, Change the Blending mode
to Multiply. [Shown in Fig. to the Right]
